Hastelloy Alloy Sheet
Material system and typical grades
- Core alloy types:
- Hastelloy C series: such as C-276 (Ni-Cr-Mo-W), C-22 (optimized Cr-Mo ratio), are extremely resistant to oxidizing/reducing acid and chloride ion corrosion;
- Hastelloy B series: such as B-3 (Ni-Mo), focus on non-oxidizing acid corrosion such as hydrochloric acid and sulfuric acid;
- Hastelloy G series: such as G-35 (Ni-Cr-Mo-Cu), resistant to phosphoric acid, mixed acid and fluorine-containing media corrosion.
- Composition characteristics:
- C-276 contains 16% Mo + 5% W, and has outstanding pitting resistance in wet chlorine and hypochlorite environments;
- The Mo content of B-3 is 28%, and it is resistant to 70% hydrochloric acid corrosion at room temperature.
Performance advantages
1. Corrosion resistance
- Comprehensive corrosion resistance:
- Strong acid resistance: The corrosion rate in boiling 65% nitric acid and 50% sulfuric acid is less than 0.1mm/year;
- Chloride resistance: Stress corrosion cracking (SCC) resistance in seawater, salt spray and Cl⁻-containing media is better than ordinary stainless steel;
- Local corrosion resistance: Pitting potential> 1.2V (vs SCE), and it is not easy to form pits in F⁻ and Cl⁻-containing solutions.
2. Mechanical and high temperature properties
- Strength and toughness:
- Room temperature tensile strength ≥ 730MPa, elongation ≥ 40%, cold forming processing;
- Maintain oxidation resistance at high temperatures (500℃~1000℃), C-276 oxidation weight gain in 1200℃ air environment < 0.5mg/cm².
3. Processing and welding
- It can be welded by argon arc welding (TIG), plasma welding and other processes, without preheating before welding, and there is no risk of intergranular corrosion after welding;
- The hardness of cold-rolled plate is ≤220HB, which can be stamped and bent, and is suitable for complex structural parts.
Specifications and manufacturing process
1. Size range
- Thickness: 0.5mm~100mm (thin plate, medium and thick plate);
- Width: 1000mm~2500mm, length up to 6000mm;
- Surface state: cold-rolled annealing (2B), hot-rolled pickling (NO.1), mirror polishing (BA), roughness Ra≤1.6μm.
2. Production process
- Smelting: vacuum induction furnace (VIM) + electroslag remelting (ESR), control S, P impurities ≤ 0.01%;
- Rolling: hot rolling and solution treatment (quenching at 1150℃~1200℃), grain refinement and stress elimination;
- Inspection: ultrasonic flaw detection (UT), intergranular corrosion test (ASTM G28), hardness test (HB/HRB).
